Standout attraction
We collaborated with JMARCHITECTS and design studio FG Stijl to breathe new life into a 50-year derelict gap on Edinburgh’s iconic skyline.
Drawing inspiration from our Old Town setting we created a truly one-off hotel that somehow simultaneously fits in perfectly with its surroundings while oozing standout stature.
We present a fresh take on contemporary design and community, with captivating views and alluring interiors, all in celebration of Edinburgh’s Scottish heritage.
Designed with memories in mind
We wanted to design a hotel that truly responds to its unique historic context while providing a modern and exciting guest experience.
An unforgettable experience that connects people and place in myriad ways, with guest rooms in a variety of configurations and outlooks on the city, offering every guest a unique perspective.
Our iconic stone roofscape houses the top floor Champagne Lounge and guest reception. Positioned on the hotel’s 7th floor, with direct access by lift, our unique guest experience begins on arrival, when the lift doors open and spectacular panoramic views of Edinburgh unfurl before your eyes.
Contemporary ‘cracked’ stone walls are a distinguishing feature of our atrium and a subtle nod to the dried earth of the historic Nor Loch, the body of water that once occupied the neighbouring Princes Street Gardens and inspiration for our rooftop Champagne Lounge, Nor’ Loft.

A new take on the Old Town
Our contemporary architecture acknowledges the past without imitating it to create standout experiences in the heart of Edinburgh.
We focused our design on the details, going as far as sourcing stone from within 90 miles of Market Street. Visually and geologically it’s a strong match for Edinburgh’s historic and now rare Craigleith sandstone.
Seen from the adjacent New Town and Princes Street, the walls of cream stone and dark stone rise above the parklands of Waverley valley to create a beautifully layered composition, complementing Edinburgh’s world-renowned iconic skyline of spires and turrets.
